Colour it away - Adult Colouring Books

A few weeks back, I got accustomed to this new trend catching up in the west and slowly drifting to us - 'Adult Colouring Book'. Being the person who loves to draw and colour, this is something that caught my attention and I HAD to know more about it.

We got a chance to catch up with Ms. Suvarna Sheth, Director of PR and Marketing, iMusti Inc. who kindly accepted to answers all the questions brimming up in my mind.

Do read through, answer the question mentioned in the end and stand a chance to win a book for yourself!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is it about colouring that is so fascinating and addictive?

Adult colouring books have gained popularity recently and adults are using colouring as a way to take time out from their busy day and relax. All you need is a colouring book and colour pencils to get started.

The intricate patterns that are typical of these books are addictive and soothing. People have the chance to be creative and use colour to transform black and white drawings into a creation of their own. The repetitive patterns also help people focus better, and like meditation, colouring allows us to temporarily switch off other thoughts and focus on the moment.

How well is the Indian public reciprocating to the trend as compared to the west?

With more than 65% of the population young and less than 35 years old, India is an automatic market for these books. And the response has been emphatic. Especially with increasing urban population and hectic time schedules, adult colouring a simple way to temporarily escape hectic life-styles. The best part is you don’t have to go anywhere, you simply take out your colouring book wherever you are: on a train, bus or in the comfort of your home. Many of the colouring books are Indian inspired, with intricate landscape, henna or mandala designs – all of which appeal to both the East and the West.

How beneficial is it to associate the trend with being therapeutic?
According to the American Art Therapy Association, art therapy is a mental health profession in which the process of making and creating artwork is used to “explore feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior and addictions, develop social skills, improve reality orientation, reduce anxiety and increase self-esteem.”

Researchers have vouched the therapeutic quality of art for years. And art therapy is often used to help people express themselves when they are faced with issues that they are unable to express well. It’s not to say colouring is the same as art therapy, but it definitely helps one to de-stress from a long day.

How probable are the chances of you suggesting this to people who come with complains of stress and anxiety at work?

If we go by the testimony of the customers who have shared their valuable feedback and experience with us, we would recommend these books to anyone. iMusti has procured more than 100 top selling of adult colouring books and plans to expand further especially for the Indian market.

How open are Indian publishers to the idea of Adult Colouring books? Are there any good takers?

We project that Indian publishers will take on adult colouring books very well. The popularity and sales of these books exploded in the U.S. last year, with an estimated 12 million books sold in 2015. The trend can only reciprocate in India and worldwide.

Can you recommend the top 3 books one must try?

These and many more are available on iMusti's website, check it out today at www.imusti.com

I have never really been a perfume person. In the past 25 years of my existence, I have bought a perfume only once. Most of the times, I borrow perfumes from my sister and rest of the times, I go by my body moisturiser and a body mist. So, what made me get this one?

The first reason of buying this perfume bottle was its beautiful shape. A round pot base with a plastic cap, in dark red hue is a treat to apply. However, one has to be really careful while handling the bottle and not hold it with the cap as it might get loosened and fall.

The scent is a beautiful mix of sweet spicy and woody notes. Floral and feminine, the perfume does make it to my Must have party accessory. Even though the perfume fragrance doesn’t stay on for more than 3 hours, it is sure to guarantee you a pampered and romantic evening.
